Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Each year, The South
Florida Business Journal bestows their prestigious Heavy
Hitters award to a select few members of the South Florida
community, for their contribution to industries ranging
from finance, design and law, to healthcare and medicine.
This year Ronni Litz Julien , MS , RD/LDN, was selected as
a Heavy Hitter in the area of Specialist Healthcare.
As a nutritionist, registered dietitian, author and
parent, Ronni has dedicated her professional life to
teaching healthy eating habits to all ages. For the past
21 years, Ronni has been educating children and adults on
how to develop lifelong behavioral changes, creating
nutrition lifestyles that are realistic, and simple to
manage. She specializes in disease prevention, children’s
health, weight management, heart disease, diabetes, eating
disorders, cancer, and other nutrition-related issues.
An expert on family nutrition, Ronni has authored two
books that address the lack of healthy eating habits in
the United States today, “The Trans Fat Free Kitchen,” and
“What Should I Feed My Kids? How to Keep Your Children
Healthy by Teaching Them to Eat Right”. Ronni was one of
the nutrition counselors to clients of the South Beach
Diet, and she recently became the Family Nutrition Expert
for ABC affiliate station, WPLG/Local10.com and serves as
a primary consultant to local and national media on the
topic of nutrition and healthy eating. She is also the
South Florida spokesperson for The American Heart
Association’s Campaign on Childhood Obesity and The
National Watermelon Board.
Ronni is passionate about spreading critical health and
nutrition messages to the public and as part of her
commitment to creating a healthier society, is an advocate
for implementing healthy eating programs in schools in
Broward and Miami-Dade counties and fighting childhood
obesity through on-going education programs. Ronni is
actively involved in educating the public about important
health and nutrition issues and in addition to her
practice, holds parenting, nutrition and healthy eating
workshops and seminars on a regular basis.
Ronni realizes that the change she hopes to see in family
nutrition cannot be measured in any number of years.
However, she is hopeful that she is able to touch the
lives of children and parents – one at a time. Her legacy
will not be measurable in the amount of lives she has
touched, but the better quality of life that each child
will lead after healthy eating habits are in place and
supported by parents and educators.
